Purshasing, Packaging and Shipping your T56

Packaging and Shipping your heavy transmission seems like a big chore. Why? Because until now, it was a big chore! We here at Tick Performance have streamlined the packaging and shipping process to make your transmission rebuilding experience as easy as possible. If you've already seen our package pricing and you're ready to have your T56 rebuilt, below is a general overview of the purchasing, packaging and shipping process:

  1. Remove your T56 from the car and visit your local Wal*Mart or comparable department store. Purchase a 45 gallon Sterilite or Rubbermaid-type container. You will also need plenty of packaging tape and material if you don't already have them. (NOTE: Corvette transmissions require a 50 gallon container)
  2. Remove your shifter, bellhousing, crossmember, vent tube, torque arm mount and slave cylinder from your T56.
  3. Drain your T56 of all fluid.
  4. Line the bottom and sides of your container with packaging material. In our experience, it is best to keep at least 6" of material on each side, including the bottom and top.
  5. Insert your T56 into the container and begin to fill it with packing material. The idea is to package the transmission as tight as possible to insure that it doesn't move! The more loose the transmission is in the container, the more chance you take of it being damaged during shipping.
  6. Give us a call at (704)660-5843 and let us know your vehicle and which Package Level you're interested in.
  7. We'll start an invoice for you, including an estimated grand total with shipping, and then charge half of that total to your credit card.
  8. We'll then e-mail you a pre-paid UPS Shipping label that you'll need to download and print.
  9. Create & insert a brief summary of your order into the package. Include pertinent information like your name, address, phone number and a description of problems the transmission was giving you before you took it out of the car.
  10. Put the lid on the container and seal it with tape. Generally, the more tape you use, the better. The goal is to make sure that the lid won't come off during shipping.
  11. Tape the shipping label to the outside of the container so that it is easily visible.
  12. Call 1(800)PICK-UPS and schedule a pickup, or find your nearest UPS Store at ups.com and leave the package with them.
  13. We will receive the package in 2-5 business days and we'll open it immediately. We'll examine the parts and if your T56 needs anything extra, we'll call you to confirm.
  14. When the transmission is finished, we'll charge your card for the remaining balance and ship it back to you via UPS in your original container with an invoice and a copy of your break-in and warranty information.
  15. Reinstall and enjoy your newly rebuilt Tick Performance T56!
Simple as that! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
